Random Video Tuesday: Farm Fresh Eggs VLOG

Last week I was on a much needed spring break from school.  Nursing school has been very demanding this semester so I made sure to relax as much as I could during my 7 day hiatus.

I also took the time to TRY and visit a small local market and a chicken farm to get farm fresh eggs.  I emphasized the word try because as you will see in the vlog video, the local market I tried to visit was closed.

Either way it was a very relaxing week and I feel a lot more refreshed and ready to tackle the remaining bit of the semester.  I also realized how much I enjoy vlogging and can’t wait until this summer where I can incorporate more of them into my schedule.

3 Busy Girl Meal Ideas

Its National Nutrition Month, which means its the perfect time to revamp your everyday diet.

One thing I want to clarify is the word diet.  The media has made this into a negative word and I want to change that.  According to Webster Dictionary the true meaning of diet is “drink or food REGULARLY provided or consumed”.  So as you can see it is what we eat day in and day out that makes up a diet. It is our lifestyle.

I know one of the most difficult things about trying to revamp our diet so that we are eating more good for you foods, is the time it takes to prepare a meal.  I know we all have so many other things on our minds and it is so much easier to just grab things on the go than it is to make our own meals.  The truth is that making healthy foods really isn’t all that time consuming.  You just have to find meal ideas that are quick and easy to make and cut back on your prep time.

5 Questions to Ask Yourself Before Buying A Fitness Program

Last week I received an email from a lovely subscriber asking me what fitness program I thought was best.  I get this question a lot so I thought it would be a great idea to answer her question on video.

Finding the right fitness or nutrition program comes down to a variety of factors. Ultimately if something is going to work for you it has to solve all the problems you are having in reaching your goal.

The Not So Secret Tip To More Money


Before I decided to go back to nursing school full time, I had a pretty good entry-level job right out of college where I was making around 40k/year.  That might not seem like a lot but to a 23 year old, thats like making a million dollars a year.

I did have some expenses that I had to take care of such as rent, insurance, utilities, food, gas, loan repayments and a cell phone bill but even after all of that, I still had around $800 at the end of every month that was up for grabs.

I know you are thinking $800, so you must have close to $19,000 saved up after those two years.  Well, the truth is,  I don’t.  Even while making 40k/yr with no kids and little expenses, I was still broke and living pay check to pay check.

In today’s video, I will be talking about the not so secret tip to having more money and the 2 things you can do today to start making it happen.

Its no surprise to all of you that I absolutely love at home workout programs and DVDs.  Being that I am also a Beachbody Coach, I get to try a lot of the new workout programs that come out.  The most recent one that I had the pleasure of completing was Shaun T’s Focus T25.

Focus T25 is a 10 week long workout program that you perform 5 days per week.  The individual workouts are only 25 minutes long and are designed around the combination of high intensity interval training and weight training.  That lethal combination is what drew me to the program.    You can check out my full review of the program below.

As you can see by my before and after pictures above, this program will bring you some killer results.  However, I am not stopping there.  I want ABS baby and I won’t stop until I get them.

Get Fit-Stay Fit Challenge: Final Day Plank Challenge

You did it!  You made it through to the final day of the Get Fit-Stay Fit Challenge!  You should be so super duper proud of yourself.  I know I am proud of you for sticking with it and believing in yourself.

I am going to end the challenge with an ab exercise that is pretty simple.  I want you to hold a PLANK for 1 MINUTE.  Not sure what a plank is?  Well, like all the other posts just look below!


Tips on how to perform a plank:

– Keep your head and neck in line

-Stay in a straight line

-Tuck the hips under (don’t let them drop)

-Tighten your core and squeeze your butt (no butts in the air)

Get Fit-Stay Fit Challenge: Tricep Dip Challenge


How did you like those burpees yesterday?  Those bad boys are no joke but man do they tighten up your body like nothing else.

Today your exercise challenge is going to focus solely on your upper body.  If you avoid waving hello or goodbye because of arm flab, then you probably should add some tripe exercises to your workout regimen.  I am going to get you started today with a simple move called the TRICEP DIP.  Its of course another body weight focused exercise. All you will need is a chair, bench, stool, table, you can even perform this on the edge of your bed.

Just like in all the other posts take a look below for a step by step visual on how to perform a TRICEP DIP as well as some tips and tricks.  Oh, and today I am challenging you to 30.


Tips on how to perform a tricep dip:

-The key is to BEND at the elbow.

-Come down and up in a STRAIGHT line.  Moving forward and back focuses on your shoulder and can actually cause injury.

-If you are a beginner, try this exercise with your knees bent instead of straight, as I have in the picture.

Get Fit-Stay Fit Challenge Week 4: Burpee Challenge

If you think you are going to get a break from using your arms today, I hate to break it to you……

Today’s exercise challenge involves your WHOLE body.  We are tackling the exercise I love to hate the most,  my best friend and worst enemy, THE BURPEE.

I know you all are so sore already from the last two days so I won’t torture you too much today.  I ONLY want you to perform 25 BURPEES, but heres the catch:  They have to be full on burpees with perfect form, unless you are a beginner of course.

Tips to keep in mind when performing a burpee:

-When jumping back into a plank don’t let your hips drop.  Control the movement.  Use your core.

-Keep your head and neck in line when in the plank.

-When jumping land softly and slight bend your knees.

-Go at your own pace. The key is proper form not speed.

Get Fit-Stay Fit Challenge Week 4: Pushup Challenge


How are your legs feeling?  If you really pushed yourself your legs should be feeling a little like jello, the toilet might seem a little lower than usual and the stairs will remind you of a mid-evil torture device.  What can I say, in the world of fitness-No Pain. No Gain.

All of the challenges this week are based on simple body weight exercises that yield maximum results.  You don’t always need fancy equipment in order to get a good workout in.

Today we will give your legs a little break and move our focus to the upper body.  We will be working primarily the chest. However, this exercise involves compound movement so it will also work your core, shoulders, triceps and biceps.  Can you guess what it is?   A PUSH-UP!

I want you to try to complete 50 PUSH-UPS today.  Beginners, you can do them on your knees but I want you to challenge yourself and try to at least get one regular pushup in.  Below is the visual on how to perform a proper pushup, along with some tips to keep in mind.


Tips to keep in mind when performing a pushup:

-Keep you head and neck in line

-Make sure your entire body is in a straight line (No butts in the air)

-Go as low as you can.  Try to get your chest to touch the ground.
